2006 HAPPY RED DOGS!

Penny
The VCC would like to thank foster family the Kalajians for adopting Penny! The Kalajians have been generously fostering Penny for many months while the VCC searched for the perfect forever home for her, which was difficult due to her health issues.

Lady ~ now known by Mia

Mia -- formerly Lady -- has the most wonderful home ever. She is the V who came back into rescue after her former adoptive family could no longer care for her. Mia goes to work with her human, is the life of the party everywhere she goes, and best of all, hogs the bed. She plays frisbee, and goes for long walks & runs. She's the queen! Mia must have guardian angels, to have found such a loving home with Dan, Theresa & Ruby (the not-so-amused-by-this-big-red-thing) cat.

Juli

Juli's former owner was sent overseas, and he did not want to put her through quarantine. A loving family in Cornelius, NC was looking for a playmate for their male Vizsla ~ Juli moved in, and now the two are inseparable!

Barney

Barney came to us when he was four months old, rescued from a family who for the most part left him in the garage without food,
water or affection. Moving into a family with two older dogs -- a 13-year-old Vizsla named Rusty and a 10-year-old Lab/Great Dane mix named Kelly-- provided challenges for Barney, namely hierarchy, and who will play with him, because the older dogs usually don't feel like playing with the energetic puppy.

Now, at 7 months, Barney is very much the teenager. He disobeys, he won't keep his things neat, and he loves stealing bites of food from the older dogs' bowls.  Turn your back on him for two minutes and he has the inner sole of your tennis shoe that you just took off totally out of your shoe, in his mouth, and half-way chewed up.

Barney loves any kind of sqeaky toy and will sqeak it as loud as he can get it to squeak.  But one of his favorite toys is also a large purple ball with a rope that runs through it.  He will hold the toy with the rope and swing his head from side to side, hitting himself in the head with the ball!  It
doesn't seem to bother him!

Barney, like our other dogs, has found a special place in our hearts.  You can tell, because he now (like our other dogs) has a ton of nicknames.  One of our frequent nick-names for him is Mr. Wiggle-Waggle.  When he is happy to see us (always), he can't just wag his tail, he must wiggle or wag his whole body from side to side like a big S-curve.  We are thrilled that Barney (alias Mr. Wiggle-Waggle, Barn-Barn, the Barns, the Weasle, Mr. Barns, Wildness, Monsier Le Barnes) has made a new forever home!

Misha (with brother Austin)

Misha came into rescue as the result of a divorce. Misha has a double family including a Red Dog playmate. Misha's new family brought Austin, their Vizsla, along when they went to meet Misha for the first time. There was an immediate bond between the two 'red heads', and the deal was sealed! The family's adult daughter lives only 10 minutes away, thus the 2nd household. What a butter vat this girl has fallen into ~ and she gets to sleep in the bed no less!
