As requested by the AKC, the VCA is asked to submit a list of breed experts for the specific purpose of mentoring judges. Currently, the VCC only has 1 VCA-approved mentor. We need to recruit additional mentors. To be an effective mentor, an applicant should be comfortable talking to judges, knowledgeable about the Vizsla and the process of judging, and willing to let prospective judges come to their home or kennel to see and discuss dogs. Specific requirements to be a VCA Mentor are: ~ Have 12 years documented experience in the sport. Documentation may include date of ownership of first Vizsla, dates of litters and club membership. ~ Have bred and raised on their premises 5 or more Vizsla litters in accordance with the VCA Code of Ethics. ~ Have bred 8 or more titled dogs in conformation of field (whether owned or not/ and or handled by the applicant) ~ Have attended 2 or more VCA National Specialties within the past 6 years ~ Have been a member in good standing of the VCA for the past 10 years. |
